Eva Weissenberger studied Law at the University of Vienna before attending the College of Journalism at the Austrian Media Academy in Salzburg. She started her career as a freelance reporter for the daily Newspaper Die Presse. She later became a politics editor for the weekly Newspaper Falter and columnist for Die Presse, before moving on to the weekly TV-news magazine Report on ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation). Ms Weissenberger is currently covering national politics for the daily newspaper Kleine Zeitung, combined with lecturing at the Vienna Business College (Fachhochschule der Wiener Wirtschaft).

In 2004 she was awarded the Ambassador Milton Wolf Fellowship at Duke University, North Carolina, USA. In 2008 she published the biography "Trotzdem. Die Oscar-Bronner-Story" (with co-author Klaus Stimeder), that gives a glimpse into Austria's media landscape and history on the basis of the life story of Oscar Bronner, founder of three of the country's most important print media. In 2009 she was awarded the Kurt Vorhofer Prize for her work in political commentary.

Ms Weissenberger is Deputy President of the "Initiative for Quality in Journalism" (Initiative für Qualität im Journalismus) in Austria.
