Kati Toivanen is a managing editor at Trendi magazine and Lily.fi (www.lily.fi) online community and is a journalist fellow at The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University.
Kati leads the work of the editorial staff at the biggest lifestyle and fashion magazine in Finland and its online community. She is a passionate editor of feature articles and interviews in print, and her work also includes developing the social media presence of the brand and developing new ways of making magazine journalism with readers.
Kati has worked with several Finnish newspapers, both writing and editing, covering mainly literature, theatre and dance. Before her current position, Kati worked as a managing editor with the girls' magazine Demi, which gave her a first-hand view on the ways in which the most intense and critical of target groups – teenage girls – read a magazine and participate in creating a media brand.
In recent years, Kati has been a teacher and a guest speaker in various seminars, on topics related to building up online communities, blogs as media concepts and blogging as a way of gaining new audiences in Finland.
She holds a MA in literature from the University of Eastern Finland.
